Birthday Marquee: Surprise your child with his or her name on the Alonso Marquee. For just $20.00, the Alonso SGA Executive Board will put the name and age on the main marquee in front of the school. For more information, please contact Ms. Isaac at 356-1525 x228.
Choice School Hotline: 272-4692 Choosing a Career: Planning your life during and after high school may seem overwhelming. Need help? Visit the statewide student advising website at www.facts.org. On this site, you can plan your high school courses, get help choosing a career and learn about Florida colleges and what degrees they offer. Community Service: While community service is not required for graduation, it is required for the Florida Academic Scholarships. It is also, at times, a consideration for other awards, scholarships and some college admissions. Community service must be done for non-profit organizations. Some service is not acceptable, so you must complete a form describing your proposed community service PRIOR to completing it. Forms are available in the Guidance Office and in the Lunchbox. Give your complete form to the Counselor for approval, then you may begin your service. When you have finished, you must submit a log of your hours signed by the person who supervised your service and an evaluation of your volunteer project. Turn these forms in to either Mrs. Turnquist or to the Lunchbox. Florida Bright Future Information: Click here for criteria for each award level. The Lunchbox is a small guidance office open in the cafeteria during both lunches. There are 3 computers in the Lunchbox for their use. Students can come in during their lunch and take college virtual tours, search for scholarships, and sign up for SAT or ACT. A counselor is there to assist them. Poetry Jam - This amazing event is hosted by our Media Center and is held in the fall and the students are elected by their teacher to attend.
Student Parking: Permit tags $5 and are sold at lunch in September.
Tutoring - FREE Online tutoring is available. The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative offers Live Homework Help: a free tutoring service through www.tutor.com. As long as you have a high speed internet connection, students can log on through the library's web site at www.hcplc.org. The service is available each day from 2:00pm to 12:00am and offers help in math, science, social studies and English. Once logged on, students can chat with one-on-one tutors - all of whom have been screened. YEARBOOKS - Contact Mrs. McCoy for more information.
